Park Guidelines & Rules
Important Information for Visitors
Jim Corbett National Park is a protected tiger reserve. All tourists are requested to strictly adhere to the forest department rules for safety and wildlife conservation.
What You MUST Do (Dos)
- Carry Original ID Proof: Always carry the original ID (Aadhaar, Passport, Voter ID) specified during permit booking.
- Hire Registered Guides: Always enter the park with an officially authorized forest guide and registered driver.
- Maintain Silence: Keep your voice low during safari; sudden noises can scare wildlife away or provoke animals.
- Follow Designated Paths: Stay strictly inside the registered 4x4 Gypsy or Canter on assigned track routes.
- Wear Earthy Colors: Wear natural tones (Khaki, Olive Green, Brown) to blend seamlessly with nature.
- Maintain Distance: Keep a safe, respectful distance from wild animals and let them cross routes peacefully.
What You MUST NOT Do (Don'ts)
- No Plastic & Littering: Plastic bags, polythene, or throwing garbage inside the forest area is strictly prohibited.
- No Smoking or Fire: Smoking, alcohol consumption, and carrying inflammable materials inside the park are illegal offenses.
- Do Not Get Down: Never step down from the Gypsy or vehicle inside the safari zones (except designated rest houses).
- No Flash Photography: Flash photography and playing loud music/radios are strictly forbidden inside tiger reserves.
- No Feeding Wildlife: Offering food items or teasing wild animals is dangerous and punishable by law.
- No Weapons or Arms: Carrying arms, ammunitions, or sharp weapons inside the forest core area is strictly prohibited.
Permit & Booking Policies
📜 Non-Transferable Permits
Safari permits issued by the Forest Department are non-transferable and non-refundable. ID details must match exactly at entry gates.
⏰ Strict Entry Timings
Entry and exit timings are governed by sunrise and sunset. Vehicles arriving late at the entry gate will not be allowed inside.
🚗 Vehicle Restrictions
Only registered forest department Gypsies and Canters are allowed. Private civilian vehicles are strictly barred from core safari zones.
🌤 Weather Closures
Zones like Dhikala, Bijrani, and Durgadevi remain closed during monsoons (July to October) for maintenance and safety reasons.
